Overview

Alkrington  woods is a triangular area bounded by Manchester Old Road, Manchester New Road and the M60. I would suggest the walk is not suitable for people who struggle walking as we are walking through a wood so there will be tree roots and undulations but it is very suitable as a slow walk.

We will see some of the work done by the Green volunteers,  the river irk and a number of old mill lodges some of which are now fishing lakes or water bird reservations.

The walk will be under two hours long.
