Starting from Ampleforth in North York Moors National Park, our first hour of walking will be north, uphill towards Studfold Ring and continuing through Pry Rigg Plantation. As the landscape opens up there are good views across to Helmsley as we head towards the pretty village of Sproxton. From here we follow The Ebor Way south to Oswaldkirk, then turning west for a gradual descent and return to Ampleforth.
We will be using field edge paths and forestry tracks, ground conditions being muddy in places. Walking poles will be useful for hill ascents and descents. There will be a short section of road walking near Sproxton and also through Ampleforth College grounds.
