Overview

From Bath Spa station we climb up to Beechen Cliff/Alexander Park for fine views over the city.  Continuing down to Lyncombe Vale, crossing the Somerset and Dorset Two Tunnels footpath. We continue on and up to the Perrymead area to cross Prior Park Hill into the old part of Widcombe with its very grand buildings.  We skirt the National Trust Prior Park Gardens, and continue climbing up to the Skyline footpath, again with fine views of the surrounding area.  We descend down Widcombe hill, and cross fields to Smallcombe woods, and eventually head up to the National Trust Bathwick Fields for more views over the city, before finally heading back along the canal to return to Bath Spa station.

The route will cover both good footpaths, steep steps in places and some potentially muddy fields, plus some minor roads.
