From Thornford station we walk along a country road to Beer Hackett, then via field paths to Thornford village, maybe pausing for an ice cream in the local shop. We continue past pretty thatched cottages and church, over the River Yeo and fields to the tiny hamlet of Wyke with its ancient Tythe Barn. Field paths take us to Bradford Abbas for lunch in the churchyard, and perhaps time to look in the church at its carved pews. We cross the river, then fields take us past Yeovil Junction station to enter the country park, meeting 'Jack the Treacle Eater' before dropping down into Yeovil. There is a cafe for a drink and cake before walking to Yeovil Pen Mill for the return train.
