Overview

A WALK DESCRIPTION: The A walk begins alongside the West Midlands Safari Park (look out for rhinos!), passing Whitehill Wood. We turn south-west through the heathland of the Devil’s Spittleful Nature Reserve, to cross the A456 and the River Severn at Blackstone. Passing the church at Ribbesford, we join the Worcestershire Way which climbs steeply through woodland, then passes through fields and a golf course, crossing the Gladder Brook and Dick Brook. At Palmer’s Farm we leave the Worcesrshire Way to head NE, again crossing the steep-sided valleys of the Dick Brook and Gladder Brook, turning NW after Liveridge Farm to Park End, where we turn NW eventually reaching Bewdley, which has a number of pubs. Refreshed, we will walk S alongside the River Severn for a little over 1.5 miles to the waiting coach. Picnic lunch; several short but fairly steep climbs. 12.5 miles, 1500 ft total ascent. Leader: Peter Searle.
