Overview

WALK DESCRIPTION: A 4–5-mile circular walk in North Worcestershire which should offer a timely and spectacular display of native bluebells. After a short stroll along Rubery village main street we arrive at a section of the North Worcestershire Path. We follow this tree-lined path steadily uphill until we arrive at Beacon Hill, which offers extensive views towards Birmingham. The views continue to the south as we descend gently downhill before reaching Beacon Farm, where we follow a footpath into Beaconwood and its enchanting bluebells. At the bottom of the wood we reach a picturesque cottage and garden before passing through an iron gate into a secret bluebell wood known as 'The Winsel'. We then follow a quiet winding country lane, passing by a field of Highland cattle before reaching Lizzies Farm and Tea Room, and an opportunity for a timely break and refreshments. We then rejoin the lane uphill until we reach the southern gateway to the Waseley Hills. On the opposite side we pass through a gate and enter Broadmoor Wood, where hopefully the bluebells will be at their magical best. Finally we return through St. Chad's Park back to our starting point for our journey home. Please note:- This is an undulating walk with some steepish sections, and may be a little muddy in places. Walking poles may be helpful, and stout footwear essential.
