Weather permitting, this will be a lovely circular walk starting in Box. The walk is challenging with a number of short steep ascents (2,350 ft.) of 15 miles. Hence the earlier start time.
We head South, climb up to Hazlebury Manor and reach Box Hill. Here, there will be an opportunity to purchase coffee at the Quarryman Arms. We then walk North passing Rudhoe Manor (previously HQ of the RAF Defence Communications Network). We have a brief climb up Hussey Hill through fields, footpaths and woods. The walk continues along the Macmillan Way to the lovely Cotswold village of Slaughterford for our lunch stop. After walking up Common Hill to Ford, we revisit Slaughterford via the beautiful By Brook River Valley. There are several attractive water features along the route. After a brief climb to Thickwood, we head to Colerne for our tea stop before returning via Ditteridge to Box. Bring lunch and snack.
Please be prepared for some road walking and a short muddy stretch that has to be negotiated with care.
