Overview

We follow the Kennet & Avon canal to Coate Bridge & then pick up the Wessex Ridgeway path up and over Etchilhampton Hill and to Etchilhampton village, diverting to visit the monument to James Long, benefactor of Wedhampton, before heading to Stert.  On to Potterne Wood and over Nine Hills before returning to Devizes past Drew’s Pond Wood.  Following residential roads and historic alleyways we will pass Devizes Castle and the 12th century St John The Baptist church (sadly locked every time I have passed) and on to the Crammer pond to hear the tale of the Wiltshire Moonrakers.  Finally returning to the car park past the historic Almshouses.  Two refreshment stops.
