A varied and undulating walk with fabulous views from Cown Edge and peaceful wandering along the River Etherow. We use good footpaths and recreational trails in the main, but when on some paths which are not as well used,  there is mud and sometimes tricky conditions underfoot. Boots are necessary and a pole may be helpful. The highest point is along Cown Edge at 1270ft / 390m. There are bridges, stiles and steps. One downhill section of steps may be challenging as there is no handrail for support.
