Overview

The A walk is 11 miles starting at Low Mill.  It follows the reverse route to the B walk along the Farndale valley through the daffodils then steeply ascends the hillside through fields and a track up to Rutland Rigg with beautiful views across the valley. At West Gill Head it goes gradually down the hillside to Horn End. Here it turns away from Low Mill to continue towards Gillamoor.  The route goes quite steeply up the hillside to an area of moorland and disused quarry workings, through fields around Harland to join a minor road.  After a short distance along the road we turn onto a grassy track leading to Faddell Rigg and the road between Low Mill and Gillamoor.  There's then a short ascent up the road into Gillamoor where the coach will pick the A party up to go into Pickering.
