This walk follows the route of a Victorian Carriage drive. (Carriage drives were intended for the estate owners and their guests to enjoy the views which are lovely on a clear day). There are good tracks throughout, both in the forest and on the exposed moorland above. Along the route we will pass the imposing ruins of Newark Castle. Shortly after the castle we will bear left downhill to follow the Yarrow downstream along the route of the Lady's walk which will take us back to the start of the walk
Although the walk is on good paths it may be muddy in sections so sturdy boots are recommended and also poles if you use them.
Bring food and drink for 2 stops.
We may have to pay for parking as ticket machines are currently being installed. I understand it will be £3 so bring pound coins and a credit/debit card.
Circular walk, grade B, moderate. Hiking boots and poles are recommended.
