Overview

A circular walk through the grounds of Elvaston Castle Country Park, with woodlands, parkland and formal gardens.  We then follow the River Derwent and the Derwent Valley Heritage Way on a gentle country walk through villages and farmland back to Thulston.

Packed lunch recommended.  Refreshments and toilets available at Elvaston Castle cafe, and at the Harrington Arms pub (at the end of the walk). 

Elvaston Castle Country Park and the surrounding countryside is low-lying and after periods of rain can be muddy underfoot.  If you have hiking poles you may wish to bring these along.

Meet up on Grove Close (opposite the Harrington Arms car park). Parking available on nearby roads (Grove Close / Hanslynn Close), or in the Harrington Arms car park (if you are planning to have refreshments there after the walk).
