The route climbs through Stanmer woods. After a short drop, the path goes through wild flower meadows, followed by a climb up to Ditchling Beacon. Following a short stretch along the South Downs Way, the route descends along mainly wide paths and woodland to reach Falmer. It's possible there to end the walk, take refreshment or continue to the start through University of Sussex access roads.
Car-parking at the start/finish. Buses 23,25,28 & 29 all stop near the start. Toilets at the start/finish. Pub near the end of walk with food. Parts of the walk are exposed and steep. Poles may be needed, and sun protection. Bus connection to Brighton from Falmer if required.
