We start by heading east through three woods, with shallow uphills, to the attractive village of Woodcote. Then either picnic lunch on the village green (with benches) or the Red Lion pub - or even the nearby fish & chip shop open 12-2pm. Toilets in the Red Lion or the nearby village hall if open. In the afternoon we return west downhill through (or by) three woods to the River Thames. Then along The Ridgeway close to the Thames for about one mile back to Goring.
For those with a Freedom Pass, the cheapest option is to get the Elizabeth Line to Reading (Paddington 9.13, Ealing Broadway 9.26). Change at Reading for the 10.23 train to Goring & Streatley (probably Platform 12, but please check). The quicker option is to get the 9.34 GWR direct service from Paddington.
