Overview

B WALK DESCRIPTION: ~9.5 miles, ~350 ft ascent. Leader: Nóra Veszprémi. Starting at a lay-by on the B4090 (the Salt Way Roman Road) about 2 miles east of Droitwich, we turn northwards up a side road for about 1/3 mile, then enter Hanbury Park (National Trust), passing in front of Hanbury Hall on a footpath and continuing through the Park and up a small hill to Hanbury church. We continue to Pipers Hill, then turn west and follow the footpath to the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. We cross the canal on Astwood Lane Bridge. After about ¼ mile we turn left and follow the bridleway to Westfields Farm, from where we continue for about ½ mile until we reach the canal and the Roman Road. We stop here for a picnic lunch with an option to visit the Eagle and Sun pub. We then take the canal towpath southwards until we reach Shernal Green Bridge. We cross the canal and continue along Hay Lane to Goosehill Farm, where we turn north on Goosehill Lane. We take the footpath to the right and walk across the fields northwards, until we reach the Roman Road and the lay-by.
