We are the East Cheshire Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Please note earlier start time of 9.45, which allows time to get suited and booted before catching the 199 bus to Disley Station at 9.55. Bring your bus pass, or for the youngsters, £3.00 for the fare. The walk is 8.5 miles long and is moderate.
Start Point - Buxton Road, Hazel Grove. GR SJ 930 861. This is the old A6, south of Hazel Grove, which was replaced by the new A6 when the A555 was opened. From Macclesfield or Wilmslow, go to the eastern end of the A555 and turn left towards Stockport. Take the first left, where there are pedestrian traffic lights and the entrance to Hazel Grove Golf Club is on the right. This is a very acute turn. There is a bus stop immediately after the turn. Park along here.
Route - Gritstone Trail, Lyme Park (toilets), Elmerhurst Cottage, Canal, Middlewood Way and Hazel Grove Golf Course back to the cars. There will be the occasional muddy/wet stretch, as is to be expected at this time of the year. No dogs, please, but you will need to bring a packed lunch.
