Overview

A bit further afield than usual, but this fabulous walk is worth the travel.

An easy/moderate walk on open moorland with long views. 7 stiles (one of them a high stone stile) and a short descent and ascent on very rough ground stop it being graded as easy, most of it is on good permissive paths and tracks and the heather should be in full bloom.

Option to have lunch at the dog-friendly Fleece pub in Holme (just over a mile from the end) where there are also toilets.

Digley Quarry car park (postcode is not very accurate, use What3words). From A635 heading west from Holmfirth, turn left at the Ford Inn onto Green Gate Road which becomes Digley Royd Lane as you head south. Car park is almost a mile from the Ford Inn, on the right before the reservoir, signpost invisible in this direction, a wide sweep of gravel is your clue to turn right.
