A leisurely circular walk in the Kent countryside from Higham station to Higham village and Gad's Hill. The walk takes us uphill past oast houses and farms with spectacular views of the Thames Estuary. This area inspired some of Dickens' novels including Our Mutual Friend, Great Expectations and a Tale of Two Cities. We visit Gad's Hill Place where Charles Dickens lived and died. We will eat our picnic lunches at Gad's Hill before a private tour of the house (cost £9.50 per person including refreshments) - limit 24 participants. After the tour, we'll continue our circular walk enjoying views across the Thames Estuary and visit the old parish church of St Mary's Higham. From there it's a short walk back to the station.
Booking required and limited to 24 people. Payment in cash on the day.
