A leisurely linear walk of 7.3 miles from East Linton to Dunbar (part of the John Muir Way a Scottish coast-to-coast route Helensburgh to Dunbar). The walk is mostly field-edge paths and tracks, riverside path leading via causeway to the John Muir Country Park and on to Dunbar. Great sea views to Bass Rock and North Berwick Law.
Car share to Dunbar from Leaderfoot: NT576 345 at 9.15am (travel time by car 1 hour)
Car Park: Leisure Centre, Dunbar – free parking & nearby toilets (NT678 792)
Bus to East Linton: (Bus 120) departs 10.40 hours High Street, Dunbar, arrives East Linton 10.53 hours. (Remember to bring bus pass)
Alternative travel using public transport: Train to Dunbar: Departs Tweedbank 08.19 hrs/Galashiels 08.23 hrs via Edinburgh Waverley; arrives Dunbar Railway Station 09.59 hrs. Return ticket to/from Dunbar with railcard £17.45.
If you could let walk leader know if you are car driver (& happy to take passengers); wish to be a car passenger, or, if you are travelling independently to Dunbar that would be helpful with planning.
We will be back in Dunbar to allow time for visit to John Muir Birthplace Museum and/or café visit. Museum entry is free, a great wee museum and well worth a visit.
Bring food & drink for two stops.
Linear walk, grade C+, leisurely. Hiking boots and poles are suggested.
