Overview

This is a walk on the Kinder Scout plateau, ascending via Crowden Brook; crossing to the less-visited northern perimeter at Blackden Edge; visiting the eastern end at Madwoman’s Stones and returning to Ringing Roger for the descent.

Start time:
10:00 am
Estimated finish time:

Strenuous

16.1km / 10.0mi

Bring a packed lunch. The route may be modified subject to the prevailing weather or ground conditions. The Kinder plateau is riven with peat groughs, and is largely pathless. Crossing of this area involves the negotiation of difficult, peat-hagged terrain; hence the grading is ‘strenuous’, in recognition of this and the sustained climb onto the plateau.
