Overview

We descend the enchanting Padley Gorge to Grindleford Station and the Totley Tunnel.  We then climb out passing historic quarrying sites including Lawrencefield.  The path then ascends onto Hathersage Moor and up onto Higger Tor.  The return path descends below Burbage Rocks joining the Burbage Brook and Upper Padley Gorge before we return past Owler Tor again to the start point.

There is a descent of the stunning picturesque Padley Gorge.  A long ascent culminating at Higger Tor for extensive views of the Hope Valley.  Finally a mostly downhill return to the start.  It is quite a hilly walk and rocky underfoot at times but the scenery easily repays your toil.

The Car Park is situated between the Fox House Inn and Hathersage on the A6187 very near and to the east of Surprise View. This is a Peak District National Park car park for those with annual passes.
