We are the West Wiltshire Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
We will walk from the Calne terminus of the Wilts & Berks canal to the Chippenham terminus (bus station) using the former Chippenham to Calne railway line and Monkton Park. The walk is flat with no stiles but some muddy areas. Although this is marked as a leisurely walk there is a possibility of a faster pace than normal due to the terrain.
Having reached Chippenham you can use the regular Stagecoach 55 bus service back to Calne. As most of the walk is off road there is no need to book. Bring a snack and drink. Plenty of coffee shops, toilets etc in Chippenham.
For a shorter 5.5 mile option: There is the opportunity to leave the footpath at Hardens Lane and self guide down to London Road, Chippenham and catch the bus back from there. This will miss out on Chippenham town and its amenities.

Meeting point outside of Calne Library, The Strand. SN11 0JU (by the head sculpture) Parking:- Station Road, Calne SN11 0HB (Fire Station). Note that this is a residential street and parking might be a premium. Alternative parking Church Street car park access via Carnegie Mews on the A4 SN11 0EN £2.60 for four hours or £3.30 for five.
