The initial part of the walk starts in Llanymynech village and follows the tow path along the Montgomery Canal for a short distance , exiting the tow path at the boat turnaround point, in order to access the heritage site. The walk then follows the Welsh incline up to the viewpoint on on Llanymynech Rocks where there will be a short break to take in the views. The path then continues clockwise around the rocks before passing through the gate which then descends down towards Llanyblodwel. The route then joins Offa's Dyke, heading up towards Jacob's ladder and Crickheath Hill. The final part of the route heads towards Pant and back along the tow path returning to the starting point.
There are a small number of stiles along the route. The route passes through fields and woodland with a number of inclines where walking sticks would be beneficial.
