Pennine weather is rather unpredictable, so ensure you are prepared for the forecast conditions, particularly footwear. Some sections of the route become muddy after rain. Bring a packed lunch and warm drink to sustain you, but a potential reward awaits you in the village at the local pub. No dogs please, this is lambing season and a sensitive landscape for ground-nesting birds.
