We leave Highgate Station along Archway Road and head SW down quiet residential roads, crossing Hampstead Lane to join a secluded track across the NE corner of Hampstead Heath, seeing splendid views south across London as we reach Kenwood House. A short stop will be made here for toilets and quick drinks. Then we descend across the Heath southwards passing the lake, along wooded tracks which later open onto more green spaces, rising to Parliament Hill, with more panoramic views across London. We continue down hill via Gospel Oak and follow quiet roads through parts of Camden and Chalk Farm to reach Regents Canal at Hawley Wharf. Our lunch stop will be here with seating near the canal and choices of places for drinks. (Please bring picnic lunch, toilets found inside Waterside Halls West.) This area is close to Camden lock. A short walk along Regents Canal brings us to Primrose Hill Open Space. (A possible detour from the trail may be made to the summit of Primrose Hill and back, weather and time permitting, adding an extra 20 mins to the walk). Soon after, we cross into Regents Park, passing London Zoo (look out for camels) walking right across the Park to finish at Baker Street Station.
No toilets at Highgate Station but several toilets along the route.
Bring Picnic lunch with time to use cafes.
