This is one of my go to walks when I just want to go out and stretch my legs and see nice things. We will walk beside the River Lea, there may well be puddles and some mud to Old Mill and Meadows. We then walk along parts of The New River, which isn’t a river! Walking past Dobbs Weir we rejoin The Lea before joining The River Stort Towpath for a short distance. We then skirt round Glen Faba to walk beside The Lea Flood Relief Channel and Nazing Meads North Lagoon to return to the start. There will be boats, locks, trees and water to enjoy on this varied walk.
it is possible to leave this walk at the half way point if you want a shorter walk
The River Palace Cafe will be open for treats before and after the walk. The Fish and Eels pub is also available for after walk refreshments.
There is the possibility of coffee at Mill Meadows, so please bring your reusable coffee cup, though the toilets are now closed there.
The end times of our walks are approximate. Our walks are relaxed affairs where weather, ground conditions, people we meet along the way, views, nature and wildlife can all affect the time a walk might take. So please bear this in mind when joining us on one of our walks.
