The first loop is 4.8 miles, heading West along the river Teise, passing a number of ponds and streams on the way to Hook Green, with a distant view of Bayham Abbey ruins on the way back to Lamberhurst. There is a road section of 0.4 miles, but this is normally fairly quiet. It is possible to drop out at this point, as we pass very close to the start. The second loop takes us East across the golf course and on one of the many routes through the Scotney estate, passing close to the old castle ruins. There will inevitably be plenty of mud and some of the paths can get quite slippery, so bring high boots and poles if you have them. Both pubs in the village centre have now closed. There is a cafe for post walk lunch, but it can get busy so please dont rely on it. The Brown Trout pub (two minutes by car) does some 'light bites'. There is a public toilet directly behind the village hall where we will meet.
