12.5 miles, ~800 ft ascent. Leader: Peter Searle. From Redditch station, we walk a short distance along roads, then through Pitcher Oak Wood and Foxlydiate Wood. We cross the A448 on a bridge, then walk along quiet roads for a little over half a mile, joining the Monarch’s Way. We follow this climbing gently across fields until we reach a minor road near Tardebigge. We turn left along this lane, then join a gently descending ridgetop track past Patchett’s Farm. We cross Copyholt Lane, along another lane then across fields to Orchard Farm, turning north to cross more fields to join the Worcester and Birmingham Canal near Stoke Pound. We follow the towpath for about 2 miles NE, passing most of the Tardebigge locks (the longest flight of locks in the UK with 30 locks in 2.25 miles), to Tardebigge church. Here we rejoin the Monarch’s Way, crossing fields and walking along quiet lanes to Bromsgrove station.
