Overview

The bitterns are booming, the grebe are dancing and the migrant birds are returning. Spring is definitely in the air! Join us for a lovely, leisurely 5 mile wander around the lakes of St Aidan's RSPB nature reserve, returning via the canal towpath and marina. Very easy, very leisurely pace to allow time for chat and nature spotting. No stiles, flat good paths and tracks throughout.

We will stop for coffee/cake/toasties at the excellent Green House coffee shop (outdoor seating only) towards the end of the walk. Toilets also available halfway at the RSPB visitor centre.

Bring binoculars if you have them. St Aidan's is home to many resident and seasonal migratory birds including many rare species.

Dogs are very welcome but MUST be on short fixed leads at all times please to protect both birds and wildlife on the reserve.
