Overview

A Sunday loop out from Ironbridge to visit the ruins of Buildwas Abbey (free to visit). We'll spend a bit of time exploring the 12th century Cistercian Abbey at Buildwas, with it's fine Chapter House and ruinous church.

The walk will be heading through woodland, on the Shropshire Way through Benthall Edge, before heading around the back of the former Power Station to head to the ruins of the Abbey. We'll then have a decent break so we can have a bit of an explore.

Once done, we'll head north west to Braggers Hill, before heading back on the Shropshire Way (again) towards Coalbrookdale and then through Loamhole Dingle back into Ironbridge.

A moderate walk of just over 7 miles with c.1000ft of ascent.
