Overview

C WALK DESCRIPTION: 6.5 miles with 800 ft of climbing Linear starting on main road east of Waterhouses. The walk goes North to the village of Carlton through lots of small pasture fields. Then steadily down a wooded dry valley to the River Manifold. Then alongside the river to Ilam country park, owned by the National Trust. Here there are toilets and a tea shop. After the country park comes the steepish climb back over grassy fields to Swinscoe on the A52 road where the walk ends. Leader Kate Chester.
