We are the Dearne Valley Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A social wellbeing walk around the man-made lake on one of Doncaster's old air fields. We will have a leisurely walk around Doncaster lakeside which is fully paved with either paved, tarmac and well used gravel paths. Don't forget your binoculars as you will have a chance to look at some local wetland birds and wildlife. We cross one quiet road on two occasions however this has designated footpath with lowered curbs.No special walking equipment is needed however we recommend comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for the time of year. As we are walking around a lake you may wish to bring/apply insect repellent as needed. The route is accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs (though there is a small area of mud in bad weather). We finish with social drinks or food at one of the local restaurants if you wish to join us.The walk is approx. a 2 mile circular walk with lots of free car parking and connections to bus services in the area. We meet on the footpath outside Cheswold Lodge Brewers Fayre, Doncaster Leisure Park, Herten Way, Doncaster, which is near to the Premier Inn Central East Hotel.
