This is an up to 4.5 mile, circular moderate route from Wendover, through the woods via Upper Bacombe and Low Scrubs, to the Ridgeway with outstanding views from Lodge Hill, Coombe Hill Monument and Bacombe Hill onto the golf course below and countryside beyond. Included is an interesting close-up of HS2 construction site. The ramble has several uphill and downhill stretches. It could be muddy in parts and slippery particularly on the chalk escarpment descent (walking poles suggested). No stiles. Afterwards we may indulge in a brew and cake at one of Wendover’s splendid teashops.

Park: Wendover Community Library pay car park HP22 6EF, signposted across the road, 100m away (3hrs - £0.90, 4hrs - £1.20, 5hrs £1.70 cash or card). Toilets at Library car park. OR free parking on Dobbins Lane HP22 6AB, 50m away or on side roads off Dobbins Lane. Car park could be busy on a Saturday afternoon. Allow plenty of time to find parking.
