Starting at Chilgrove, passing through woods, fields, chalk grasslands with abundant birds, wild flowers and butterflies this part of the South Downs National Park is designated SSSI. Small villages are nearby, with evidence of earthworks, settlements and burial grounds. The Kingley Vale National Nature Reserve is 365 acres and home to many ancient Yew trees, and the Devil's Humps thought to be burial mounds. Local paths, the Sussex Literary Trail and the Monarch's Way take us through a varied landscape, with a possible glimpse of the sea.
