Overview

This walk starts from the National Park car park. We leave the car park following the Rail Trail passing through Beck Hole. Crossing the river by a bridge we head up to Murk Cottages and Murk Wood before reaching a road.  Dropping down the other side we follow the Esk Valley Walk into Grosmount.

Leaving Grosmount we have our longest climb of the day up the road to Fairhead Farm.  This used to be a Lama Farm but now appears to be farming Deer. A dip and short climb brings us to Greenlands Farm. Now we have a lovely moorland walk passing part of the Whinstone Ridge to arrive at Goathland Station.

There are 3 climbs on the walk, The steepest being the road out of Grosmount. Shorter returns from Grosmount are possible.

Walk is 10 miles with 1500 feet ascent.
