Overview

You are welcome to join York Ramblers for their 2025 Coach Ramble. Whether you decide to go on one of three linear walks of different lengths and levels of difficulty that are on offer or spend the day exploring Kettlewell at leisure, it promises to be a wonderful day out.

This, the A walk, will begin in Grassington then goes via Great Whernside and finishes in Kettlewell.

We leave Grassington on the Dales Way to walk to the top of Coniston Nib from where we head up Bycliffe Road and Coniston Turf Road (Tracks).  After passing the Trig Point at 512ft we cross open access land and on to Sweet Hill.  Continuing upward we ascend Great Whernside then continue across Blackfell Top and descend steeply to cross the unclassified road from Kettlewell to Cover Dale.  The route proceeds along Starbotton Road (Track) to Top Mere Gate where we join Top Mere Road (Track) and head down it to Kettlewell.
