We are the Winchester Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A mixed downland and woodland hike, heading South East from Winchester to Hazeley Down following the Pilgrim's Way, Monarch's Way and Allan King Way for a gentle climb to enjoy the wide views from Cheesefoot Head. Returning on the South Downs Way to Winchester through Chilcomb.
This is a picnic walk without facilities on the route, so please ensure you bring food and water with you. There are some muddy stretches along the Monarch's Way so if you have a pole then you may find it helpful.
As a bonus incentive - there will be an opportunity to forage for some wild garlic leaves.
Meeting at the entrance to Barfield Park and Ride car park, a 15 minute walk from the City centre. All day parking is available for £3.50.
