To celebrate the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth the Overton Jane Austen Trails have been created to explore the footpaths and bridleways of Overton, Steventon and the surrounding countryside, following in the footsteps of Jane Austen, her friends and family.
We'll be following the 9 miles trail from Overton, along the upper reaches of the Test and through delightful hamlets and countryside with links to the Austen family, but with an extension to North Waltham where we'll have our lunch stop (seating provided).
Quite a lot of road walking on quiet roads, which might be a good thing at the moment. Some mud on bridleways.
This is a picnic walk. Please bring drinks and snacks for a morning break and a picnic lunch.
It is possible to access Overton by public transport. Train to Basingstoke then 08:20 Bus 76 from Basingstoke station to Overton Library.
Please let the leader know you are coming as we may set off early, if all known walkers have arrived.
