We will walk along the river Skirfare for about 1.5 miles, then we cross a small bridge into a small village. Just before the end of the village, we take a track that leads us, at times steeply, up the hillside. It is a long steady climb to the top (great views both on the way up and at the top). Here we cross a wall on a ladder style and begin our descent into Kettlewell ( some places we'll be walking on slippery limestone ), where we will stop for lunch. There are toilet facilities here and shops/cafes where you can buy food and drinks.
We start our return journey with a stiff climb, where again we are rewarded with magnificent views, and in one or two places we will need to do a little scrambling. However, once we are over the top of the hill, the hard work is over and we have a pleasant walk back down to Arncliffe with only an occassional slippery area.
