This is a circular walk which includes a moorland climb up to the summit of Barmekin Hill, with good views over the Aberdeenshire countryside. The descent of the hill can be slippery if wet, or icy so care must be taken. Walking poles are advisable, microspikes are also advisable if icy. We start at the Dunecht Estate main gates and follow tarmac roads and forest tracks through the Estate giving good views of the country house. We then cross over the B977 and ascend and descend the Barmekin Hill via rough tracks. We then return through Dunecht Estate and back to start.
