A 10 mile circular walk from Cranbrook along part of the High Weald landscape trail to the beautiful village of Goudhurst. Our route to Goudhurst will take us through Angley Woods, then though the Glassenbury Estate which was a gift from King Henry I to its first owner in 1103. We then walk through open fields where (weather permitting) we will be afforded some beautiful views of the surrounding farmland before arriving at Smugely Farm - named due to it connection with the historic smugglers who formed a significant part of Goudhurst’s History.
We will then begin our ascent to the village of Goudhurst where we will stop for a picnic lunch with views across to Bedgebury Pinetum. Our return to Cranbrook will take us through a mixture of open fields, Orchards and woodlands using the Walk in Time footpath. Our return to Cranbrook will provide views of the highest Smock Windmill in England.
This walk will be predominantly on solid terrain however there will be at least 3 parts of the walk where we will encounter wet clay soil which will be deep and slippery due to its proximity to natural streams.
