We are the Take a Hike Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
We leave the YDNP car park and head north through Grassington and on to the gentle to Bare House, from here we drop down and join the Dales Way and walk to the top on Coniston Dib, we will have a little look down Coniston Dib. A little past Coniston Dib we then head in a North Westerly direction to Capplestone Gate where we shall have a short break, from here we head down into Kettlewell where we can use the facilities and have a lunch.
Those that would like a shorter walk there is a bus service back to Grassington (see additional details)
After lunch we start our way back to Grassington, there will be a section of road walking before we turn left on to Highgate Leys Lane and the Dales Way. Based on the weather and the earlier look down Coniston Dib we now make a choice of doing Coniston Dib or take Scot Gate Lane down into Coniston. We then leave Coniston and continue South and pass the western side of Bastow Wood before descending back into Grassington.
Public Transport is possible via the number 72 bus from Skipton at 09:37 arriving Grassington 10:05. This walk is approximately 7hr 10min meaning a return time around 17:20, the number 72 bus from Grassington is due to leave at 18:08 and arriving at Skipton 18:30.
For anyone just wanting to do a shorter linier walk finishing in Kettlewell there is a bus service 72A and 72B that will get you back to Grassington leaving at 13:38, 15:53, 16:30 and 17:30 these are 16-seater minibuses. Full detail of Dales Bus at https://www.dalesbus.org/timetable.html
YDNP Car Park Price £5.50 the machines have options for cash or contactless card transactions. This is also the location of the bus stop if coming by public transport.
