Join us for our annual jaunt on the dark side of the Pennines!
This is a moderately challenging walk with a couple of steep hills so be prepared. We meet at the picnic site car park with the cafe in Barley village at 10:15am and set off for 10:30 through fields up to the Witches Galore shop in Newchurch, and make our way along a lane turning off for another steep ascent through fields to reach Upper Ogden reservoir. This makes for a scenic lunch stop. We will ascend Pendle Hill and cross the plateau before descending via the main path at which point we are usually greeted by The Cauldron food truck for refreshments. We cross fields and the picturesque outskirts of Barley into woodland to take in the eerie sights of the Pendle sculpture trail. From there it is a short walk returning to Barley for a well earned drink at one of the village pubs. It's worth arriving early to get a parking spot as the car park gets busy.
