South Yorkshire's renowned heather moors form the core of this undulating ramble, which takes in the dramatic Wyming Brook nature reserve with its many waterfalls and wealth of birdlife. A woodland path takes us on to a panoramic view of the Rivelin Valley and onwards to the moors and the pinnacle of Head Stone rock. Our walk also takes in views of the Redmires reservoirs with its abundant wildlife.
This walk ticks all the boxes with woodland paths, dramatic waterfalls and open moorland walking. Areas around Wyming Brook and on the open moors can be quite muddy in places depending on the weather conditions. The Three Merry Lads pub is situated 100 yards from the free car park and beckons us on our return. Usual breaksen route.
