Come and join us on a 6 mile walk through some of the scenery surrounding the rocks in and around Tunbridge Wells. Passing Wellington, Toad and High Rocks we will also be taking in the spectacular views around Happy Valley. Passing through Friezland Woods there should be a carpet of bluebells as they are normally out by mid-April. No rock climbing is required, just bring your walking shoes.
A stop is planned at the High Rocks Inn half way round for a cuppa and toilet break.
This is a moderate walk with a couple of short steep sections and possibly a few muddy bits. You should be comfortable walking 6 miles in 2 and a half hours to enjoy the route. The start is half a mile away across the Common from Tunbridge Wells rail station. We Meet at Tunbridge Wells Cricket pavilion where there is some limited free parking for 4 hours. Alternatively Hungershall Park has free parking a little further away and there is paid for parking on the Common next to the Pantiles. There are public toilets nearby and at Sainsbury's but do remember that free parking at Sainsbury's is only for 3 hours with no return within 4 hours unless you want to receive a £75 penalty!
It is recommended that you aim to arrive in good time to bag a parking space.
Join us for a coffee (and cake) at the historic Pantiles afterwards where there are a good selection of coffee shops and pubs.
Access to the High Rocks 'National Monument' will cost £6 but we can still see them from outside and the hotel's tea garden.
