Although a little further away than some walks it is actually only about 40 minutes drive from Newark - mainly A46.
We will catch the 10:09 (scheduled to be a steam train) at Quorn and Woodhouse Station on the Great Central Railway, (Heritage Railway), travel to Rothley then walk back.
There's plenty of free parking at the station, please get there early enough to park, boot up, cross to the platform and buy a single ticket to Rothley - £6. There can be a queue. You might allow time to look around the station (set in the 1940s) and perhaps buy a drink from the NAAFI (tiny cafe) on the platform under the bridge.
Lunch and coffee breaks. Cafes and toilets at both stations.
There's some road walking (mainly pavement,) through interesting village, plus tracks, woods and fields.
Please register for this walk on Newark Ramblers website where you will also find details of our car share scheme.
You may contact the walk leader on the day of the walk on 07733 655279.
