Overview

A linear walk from Hertford North station to Watton at Stone station. Passing through Goldings estate,  we will stop at Waterford Church to admire the Arts and Crafts windows, mosaic and floor tiles. Then we will follow the River Beane from Waterford, through Stapleford and the Woodhall estate to Watton at Stone.

The River Beane is one of the world's rarest habitats: a chalk stream river. The river has been selected as one of the flagship demonstrations for the chalk streams recovery programme. We will see examples of the work already undertaken to restore the river.
