Overview

A varied walk with exceptional views of the moors and Easterside hill. We walk on varied terrain on moorland paths, through woodland and on forest tracks.

From the starting point at Newgate Bank car park, just off the B1257, about 5 miles north of Helmsley, we walk on a forest track giving good open views of Rievaulx moor. We then descend from Helmsley Bank to join a moorland path then woodland. We cross the road at Laskill then ascend to the lunch spot which gives good views of the route covered in the morning.

After lunch we walk south on a mixture of field paths, lanes and forest tracks  before a final steepish ascent back to the cars
