Start Time: 09:30
Distance: 15.5 miles

We will start no later than 9:30, but may start earlier if all the registered people have arrived.

This walk follows the 'Sheffield Round Walk', taking in a variety of paths through the southwestern outskirts of Sheffield and combining wooded valleys and parks with great views. Although longer than most of our long walks, it is the very epitome of a moderate walk. If you think of Sheffield as a grimy industrial city, come on this walk and be disabused of the notion.

We start by walking through Ringinglow village and down the valley of the Whirlow Brook to Whinfell Quarry Gardens where we will have a coffee stop. The next stage takes us down to Dore & Totley station where we start the only steep climb of the day up steps to Beauchief woods. The route then goes through Parkbank and Chancet Woods to Meadow Head where there is a supermarket that can be used to replenish supplies for the next stage. We then wander through Graves Park and down the Gleadless Valley to reach the 16th century Bishops' House, which may be open.

After crossing Meersbrook Park we come to the only truly urban section of the walk, but soon go along Brincliffe Edge and quiet suburban streets to Endcliffe Park where there is a café suitable for an afternoon tea stop. The route then climbs gently through the valley of the Porter Brook and ends by going through Porter Clough back to the car park.

Note that there are no toilets at the start, but there is a pub in Ringinglow village where you may be able to use the facilities.
