Overview

This is a 4.5 mile flat (some stairs) walk from Harborne to Birmingham City centre using minor roads, walk ways and tow paths. Starting outside Harborne Leisure centre, the route first visits the Moor Pool Estate, a social housing development initiated by John Nettleford, chair of Birmingham Housing committee in 1901. The estate was started in 1907 and completed in 1912. We walk to the middle, “The circle” and visit the pocket garden. From there we join the Harborne Walkway , going north on the traffic free route towards town. On the way we’ll visit the Red Shed cafe and take in part of Edgbaston reservoir. Then it’s canal tow paths and calling in at the Round House before finishing at Black Sabbath Bridge on Broad Street. At the finish there are a number of options for refreshments or you could head off to the German Market!
